Jerome Fred Schmidthuber, age 77 of Berwyn, IL, has left us for his final journey. He passed peacefully with loved ones at his side, hearing his favorite songs and smelling fresh herbs from his prized garden. Formerly of Melrose Park (IL) and San Francisco (CA), Jerome returned to his home-town after many travels and enduring friendships. Early in life, he pursued his passion by attending & graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and worked as an artist in paint, sculpture, and music.
While holding many careers, he remained connected to both himself as an artist and his family roots as farmers. Later in life, he focused his artistic passion into his garden, cooking, as well as returning to painting. He remained active in the local art community and was a life-long alumni of his school. He also enjoyed his days by following the stock market, shopping for rare ingredients to cook with, and simply listening to the radio with his beloved pet cat Ozzy.
He was the proud father of Andrew J. Schmidthuber and Brett J. Schmidthuber; the adored brother of Yvonne, Henrietta, and the late Marietta; the cherished uncle of Jeff Hyma, Melissa Blanc (Hyma), Kimberly Cashman (Hyma), Matthew Hyma, Scott Hughes, Laura Bishop (Hughes), David Hughes, Brad Crawford, Greg Crawford, Kristan Crawford and Cary Crawford and was loved by his many cousins.
He was a loyal life-long friend to many, including Jim Irmis Sr., David Sucha, Michael Roberts, GeriLynn, Rosemary, Sean Markel and countless others who crossed paths with him during a life well lived.
